M/E Insider: Big LEED Elections
• Yudelson Associates announced recently that its founder and principal, Jerry Yudelson, P.E., LEED AP , has been elected to the national core committee for the LEED for New Construction rating system. Yudelson is a former Board Member of the U.S. Green Building Council and also serves on the national core committee for a companion standard, LEED for Core and Shell development; he is the only person in the country elected to serve on both bodies. He has trained nearly 3,000 people in the LEED standard since 2001, when he was selected as one of the ten original LEED national faculty members.
• Kim Shinn, P.E., LEED AP , director of sustainable design for TLC Engineering for Architecture , has been elected to a three-year term on the USGBC Board of Directors, effective in 2007. One of eight new board members elected by the USGBC Regional Councils, Shinn will represent the Southeast region, comprising Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Southwest Virginia. Under Shinn’s direction, TLC has designed two LEED-certified projects including the first project in Florida to attain certification.
• Cannon Design announced recently that Phillip Schuler, AIA ; James R. Bones, P.E., LEED AP ; David P. Blouin ; and Jerry Weslar, RA , were promoted to associate vice presidents of the firm’s Boston office.
• Evergreen Engineering announced that Clem Wood , formerly of Fluor Corporation , has joined the firm as a principal and business development manager. Acknowledged as an expert in tool install design and construction, Wood’s business development efforts will focus on the East Coast market for the semiconductor industry.
• Deron McIntosh is rejoining Smith Seckman Reid in its Knoxville office as a senior electrical engineer and project manager; he last worked for SSR in its Nashville office in 2002.
