New hires, promotions, and information at MEP firms.

BICSI, an association of information transport system professionals, has appointed John D. Clark Jr., CAE, as executive director and CEO. Clark, who most recently served as president and CEO for the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE), has more than 28 years of industry experience and holds an MBA from the University of Maryland.

Chicago-based AEC firm SmithGroup has announced a number of hirings and promotions. Bob Kempa, a 20-year industry veteran, has been appointed a project manager for the company’s Workplace studio; Kenneth Novak was named project manager and associate, and Brian Bilski has been named Job Captain/Manager for Technical services. In addition, Cornell University graduate Naomi White has joined the firm as a key member of the Health & Science studio.

Troy, Mich.-based mechanical/electrical engineering company Peter Basso Associates has named Alex Brown a CAD specialist in its Technology and Support Services Group. Brown graduated from ITT Technical Institute in Henderson, Nevada in 2007.

Alpharetta, Ga.-based MACTEC Engineering and Consulting Inc. has appointed Scott J. Anderson, P.E., South Division manager. The division has more than 1300 employees and 28 offices, and accounts for more than $170 million in annual revenue for the company.

Houston-based engineering design and consulting firm Smith Seckman Reid Inc. has hired John Offield as a building information modeling program manager in the firm’s Southwest division. Offield will handle services for all of the company’s Southwest offices including Phoenix, Dallas, Denver and Houston.
