Lighting Control Manufacturers Ready for the New Daylight Saving Time Dates
Lighting control manufacturers are offering advice and support to building managers whose total-building lighting control systems will be affected by the recent changes to the start and end of Daylight Saving Time (DST).
The United States Congress passed legislation that, in 2007, will begin DST on March 11 (instead of April 1) and will end DST on Nov. 4 (instead of Oct. 28).
To ensure that a building’s lighting and its occupants are not impacted by the DST change, Lutron, Coopersburg, Pa., is proactively reaching out to users of its commercial system products.hts off an hour early until Nov. 4. This pattern will repeat every year until the DST rules in the timeclock are updated to match Congress’ new rules.
The majority of Lutron’s timeclock systems allow the DST dates to be modified by the user. DST resource site .
Palatine, Ill.-based Schneider Electric’s Square D brand also has announced the launch of a web site— the Daylight-Saving Time Solutions site—that will assist electrical contractors, system integrators and commercial building owners and managers in updating its lighting control products for the impending change in daylight-saving time.
“It is extremely important that commercial building owners are proactive about the change in daylight-saving time,” said Scott Jordan, Square D Product Marketing Manager. “When clocks move forward an hour on Sunday, March 11, it could create problems for unprepared building owners.”
