Las Vegas announces Green Building Rebate Program
In order to stimulate new green building construction and provide energy efficiency retrofits, the city of Las Vegas announced its Green Building Rebate Program.
The city of Las Vegas announced it will begin a Green Building Rebate Program to stimulate new green building construction and provide energy efficiency retrofits to existing buildings.
The green building program provides rebates for new construction and existing commercial and residential retrofits for buildings who construct buildings or projects to one of the following green building program standards:
- LEED
- The Southern Nevada Green Building Partnership
- Green Globes
- NV Energy’s Energy Plus New Homes program
- NV Energy’s Sure Bet Program
The rebates will be made available for expedited plans checks, building permit fees, and certifications. Additionally, the project or building will receive public recognition on the city’s web site and in future promotional materials. Projects that begin after July 1, 2009 are eligible.
The application process is as follows. The builder chooses the respective green building program and notifies the city of its intent to participate. Once the project is completed, the builder requests the eligible rebates, which will be paid to the builder. The Las Vegas City Council established a special green building revenue fund so rebates will be given on a priority basis contingent upon fund availability.
