In 2007, deal volume was at an all-time high—about 30% ahead of 2006. The map reveals a significant number of deals in California as well as Texas and Florida—all states that are experiencing the greatest increases in population. The Manufacturing Belt and the Northeast also saw strong merger and acquisition activity, despite relatively weaker population growth.
