Industry Roundup: Updates from Advance, Autodesk, Rheem, S&C Electric and Others

• Advance Lighting, Rosemont, Ill., announced that its president & CEO, Brian Dundon, was recently elected Chairman of the National Electrical Manufacturers Assn. (NEMA) Lighting CEO Board of Directors for the coming two-year term.

• Autodesk, San Rafael, Calif., has acquired majority assets of Applied Spatial Technologies, including its flagship software application for facilities management, FMDesktop.

• Automated Logic, Kennesaw, Ga., has acquired two of Comfort Systems USA ’s independent dealers— United Environmental Services, L.P. of Houston and Comfort Systems USA of Twin Cities, Inc. of Minneapolis, Minn. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

• Electronic Control Systems LLC, Norwalk, Conn., manufacturer of the UltraGuard Carbon Monoxide Safety System, has formed a relationship with The Systems Depot, a national distributor of low-voltage equipment.

• Rheem Manufacturing, Montgomery, Ala., announced that its entire line of gas-fired tankless water heaters qualify for a federal income tax credit under the new Energy Tax Incentives Act of 2005.

• S&C Electric, Chicago, has announced that, effective January 1, 2006, a 10-year no-hassle warranty will apply to nearly all of its automation products. The company says that it will retroactively provide this warranty on its automation products manufactured since January 1, 2005.

• Toshiba’s Digital Products Division, Irvine, Calif., announced an International Access Program that expands its MyConnect Internet access service footprint to more than 54,000 locations and dial-up numbers in more than 110 countries outside the United States.
