Orsus , New York, and Johnson Controls , Milwaukee, Wis., formed a strategic agreement. The alliance combines Orsus’ security and safety Situation Management software, Situator, with Johnson Controls’ system integration expertise.

Patent Board ranks Leviton Manufacturing Co., Little Neck, N.Y., as having one of the strongest and most influential patent portfolios for industrial components and fixtures. This is the third time Leviton has made this list. Elkay Manufacturing Co., Oak Brook, Ill., announced changes to its Plumbing Products Division (PPD) with the creation of three new business units. Jack Krecek was promoted to the newly formed position of vice president, general manager of PPD’s commercial business unit, and Tom Samanic moved to vice president, general manager of PPD’s residential trade business unit. Elkay also promoted Mark Lawson to the position of vice president of engineering and innovation. Ferraz Shawmut , Newburyport, Mass., promoted Kent Walker to vice president of technical sales and services. Walker began his career at Ferraz Shawmut in 1982. Additionally, the company named Jean-Francois de Palma its director of development, and Jeff Williams joined the company as a sales representative for the Georgia region. Piyush Saxena joined the company as product manager YKK AP America , Austell, Ga., named Mike Turner vice president of marketing. Turner has served the company since 1992, when he worked as an assistant engineer. Edgar M. Purvis Jr ., has been named executive vice president of Emerson , St. Louis, and business leader of Emerson Climate Technologies , Sidney, Ohio. Purvis joined Emerson in 1983 as a product planner. Thomas E. Bettcher , who had been business leader of Emerson Climate Technologies, will become chairman of the company, in addition to his role as president and CEO. Additional changes at Emerson Climate Technologies are: William Bosway has been named president of Emerson Climate Technologies—Refrigeration and Solutions; D. Scott Barbour has been named president of Emerson Climate Technologies—Asia; Brent Schroeder has been named president of Emerson Climate Technologies—Air Conditioning; Mark Dunson has been promoted to vice president and general manager of air conditioning and marketing for Emerson Climate Technologies—Asia; and Richard DeNuzzo , CFO for Emerson Climate Technologies, will assume additional responsibilities for coordinating the company’s IT functions. Fluidmaster , San Juan Capistrano, Calif., named David Kenyon vice president of global marketing.
