Industry Roundup: Delta Faucet partners with Bob the Builder; Daikin acquires McQuay parent; SBT cuts thermostat prices

• Delta Faucet, Indianapolis, has signed on as the national sponsor for the Indianapolis Children’s Museum traveling exhibition Bob the Builder:Project Build It! The exhibit is based on the popular children’s television program.

• CertainTeed, Valley Forge, Pa. has met the GREENGUARD Product Emission Standard for Children and Schools for its fiberglass insulation batts, wraps and blowing wool products.

• Daikin AC ( Americas ), Carrollton, Texas, announced today that its parent company Daikin Industries, Ltd. will acquire O.Y.L. Industries Bhd, the Malaysian-based global HVAC company that owns U.S.-based McQuay International. The acquisition is intended tolend Daikin’s extensive technologically advanced product expertise to O.Y.L.’s applied product solutions.

• Siemens Building Technologies, Buffalo Grove, Ill., has reduced list prices on electronic room thermostats by up to 57%. Thermostat applications include room control of constant air volume (CAV), fan coil, hydronic, and heat pump equipment.

• Square D, Palatine, Ill. announced in April that it had filed suit against Scott Electric Company, Greensburg, Pa., and a local retailer in the United States District Court located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Continuing efforts by Square D to track down potential counterfeiters and protect intellectual property rights revealed that Scott Electric had sold certain counterfeit electrical products.

• Trane, Piscataway, N.J., has received a contract from the Pittsylvania County Schools in Chatham, Va. to provide the district with PACT, a package of products and services customized to specific building requirements that deliver significant energy, water and operating cost reductions.

• Viking SupplyNet , Grand Rapids, Mich., a distributor of fire protection products, announced that beginning June 19, the company will officially begin distributing BlazeMaster CPVC pipe and completely phase out their current CPVC pipe offering.
