Orlando, Fla.-based PBS&J announced the creation of a new Sustainable Building Design group. The group is a national practice providing a dedicated project management team to guide clients through the process of building for U.S. Green Building Council LEED certification, energy modeling, and building commissioning.
James H. Beall is being honored by the IEEE with the 2009 IEEE Haraden Pratt Award. Beall has worked on numerous IEEE boards and committees over the past 40 years and will receive the award which recognizes him for a lifetime of continued leadership and service to IEEE at all levels. The award will be presented on 25 June 2009 at the IEEE Honors Ceremony in Los Angeles.
Huntsville, Ala.-based WestWind Technologies received six awards given by the National Safety Council. These included Occupational Excellence Achievement Award (Service in accident prevention); Million Work Hours Award (Operating 1 million hr without incident); Perfect Record Award (No accidents, injuries or illnesses); Milestone Award (Operating two years incident-free); Certificate of Merit (Recognizing department contributions in accomplishing the overall goal); and Lift Truck Operator Award (480+ consecutive hr of operation without incident).
Christopher Ruch of Sacramento, Calif., was named the 2009 International Testing, Adjusting and Balancing Bureau Contest winner. This award recognizes Ruch’s knowledge and ability in first through fourth year apprenticeships, but has not yet become a journeymen member of the Sheet Metal Workers’ International Association.
