A California energy company has purchased up to 960 MW of solar thermal and wind power, according to Reuters .

Southern California Edison (SCE), which is owned by Edison International, made the move to comply with state standards that require utility companies to increase their renewable energy sources, therefore reducing the state’s dependence on fossil fuels.
The 960 MW were acquired from a variety of companies, including Solar Millennium AG of Germany, Idaho’s Ridgeline Energy LLC , and Columbia Energy Partners , based out of Oregon. SCE will be creating solar thermal plants, set to open in 2013 and 2014.
