IBE Consulting Engineers (IBE) has promoted four staff members and added one to its team in its Los Angeles office. The appointments include one new principal, William H. “Hank” Dahl, Jr., who was promoted from senior associate. The internal promotions also include three new associates: mechanical engineer Qing “Carol” Li, PE, LEED AP; electrical engineer Henrik Hertz; and plumbing engineer Teofilo “Teng” Ernesto Yadao, EIT.

“I’m extremely proud of Hank’s innovative work and the talent he has brought to the firm during the past five years,” said Alan Locke founder and principal of IBE Consulting Engineers. “His ongoing leadership in electrical engineering has contributed greatly to IBE’s success and is an essential asset to our clients.”

With 35 years of electrical engineering design experience, Dahl’s leadership brings a well-steeped knowledge base gained from working on large-scale medical and medical research lab facilities, museums, entertainment industry projects, and office buildings. Dahl said, “I embrace the challenges presented by multifaceted and complicated projects, especially the distinct needs posed by museums and other complex facilities.”

Prior to joining IBE in 2006, Dahl collaborated with IBE on the MEP design for the Taubman Museum of Art in Roanoke, Va., and the Getty Villa Renovation in Malibu, Calif. He is a member of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA).

Locke also lauds the work of IBE’s rising staff, whose members hail from all corners of the globe. “We are also very fortunate to have such a globally diverse talent pool that helps us better serve our international clients’ needs and ongoing projects in China and France. It gives me great pleasure to recognize Carol, Henrik, and Teng with promotions to associate,” Locke said.

Since new associate Henrik Hertz joined IBE in 2010, his electrical engineering designs have been a valuable contribution to a variety of projects, including the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles; Huntington Library Entry and Visitor Center, San Marino, Calif.; and numerous projects at UCLA. He also enjoys inspiring youthful future engineers through involvement in the ACE (Architecture, Construction & Engineering) Mentor Program. Hertz holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the Engineering College of Copenhagen in Denmark.

As a lead plumbing engineer, associate Teng Yadao utilizes 3-D modeling software to design the plumbing system layouts for IBE projects. Since joining the firm in 2007, his project portfolio includes Anna Head West Student Housing at University of California, Berkeley; 9900 Wilshire in Beverly Hills, Calif.; and Porterville Courthouse in Porterville, Calif.. Yadao holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Mapua Institute of Technology in Manila, Philippines, and is a certified Engineer-in-Training.

Associate Carol Li, PE, LEED AP, who joined IBE in 2007, has more than 20 years of international mechanical engineering experience. In addition to designing various mechanical systems, such as radiant, air volume control, and displacement systems, she performs the energy simulation models for IBE projects and prepares LEED submittals. Her portfolio at IBE includes the College of the Desert Classroom Building in Palm Springs, Calif.; Westmont College in Santa Barbara, Calif.; and several projects at UCLA. Li holds both Bachelor of Engineering and Master of Engineering degrees from Xian Jiaotong University in Xian, China. She also holds a Graduate Certificate of Fire Safety Engineering from the Victoria University of Technology in Melbourne, Australia.
