Emerson Climate Technologies, St. Louis, released the application-engineering bulletin for refrigerant retrofits. “Refrigerant Changeover Guidelines-HCFC R-22 to HFC R-422A/D” is an applicable guide for Copeland Discus compressors and environmentally responsible refrigerant solutions. The bulletin’s intention is to provide contractors with detailed considerations and procedures for retrofitting Copeland Discus compressors to work with environmentally conscious refrigerants.

The bulletin lists the systematic procedure for leak testing and labeling system components, among other tasks include special considerations for contractors before beginning the retrofit process. The considerations include preparatory measures, precautions, additional replacement requirements and a listing of items that contractors should have before starting the changeover.

The bulletin also includes the HFC R-422A and R-422D Saturated Vapor/Liquid Pressure/Temperature Charts. The charts help contractors compare their testing numbers to industry standards, which enables them to provide more accurate changeover service to their customers.
