Emcor named No. 1 admired engineering company

Emcor Group Inc., Norwalk, Ct., a Fortune 500 leader in mechanical and electrical construction, energy infrastructure, and facilities services for a diverse range of businesses, has announced that it has been named the 2009 World’s Most Admired Company in the Engineering and Construction industry by Fortune magazine. Emcor was named America’s No. 1 Most Admired Company in the industry in the 2008 Fortune ranking.

Fortune’s Most Admired list is the definitive report card on corporate reputations. The annual ranking was compiled starting with some 1,400 companies and, after sorting, surveying 689 companies, in 64 industries, from 28 countries. The Hay Group, Fortune’s survey partner, as ked 4,047 executives, directors, and analysts to rate companies in their industry on nine criteria, from investment value to social responsibility. A company’s score must rank in the top half of its industry survey. The full list of companies appears in the March 16, 2009, edition of Fortune.
