A total of $44.5 million will be awarded this year nationwide to fund energy-efficiency and renewable energy programs in every state, compliments of the U.S. Department of Energy.

“These awards will help states, territories and the District of Columbia implement their state energy plans, improve the energy efficiency of transportation and buildings, and provide public education to improve energy efficiency statewide,” said Secretary of Energy Spencer Abraham.

In the past, these grants have helped improve energy efficiency for more than 69,000 buildings nationwide.
