CSI will not support MasterFormat 95 after this year
CSI will only license and support MasterFormat 2004 after Dec. 31, 2009.
The Construction Specifications Institute ( CSI ) board of directors voted to stop licensing and supporting MasterFormat 95 during its Annual Convention in Indianapolis. CSI will only support the updated MasterFormat 2004 beginning in 2010.
The MasterFormat standard has been used by the construction industry to organize project manuals and detailed cost information, and to relate drawing notes to specifications for many years. The 2004 updates, which accommodated new technologies and building practices, were the most significant changes to MasterFormat since the standard was introduced in the 1960s. Using two different versions of the standards hinders interoperability and communication.
"Now that the new edition has been widely accepted by the industry, we felt it was time to complete the transition to MasterFormat 2004," said CSI executive director and CEO Walter Marlowe.
