CH2M HILL Secures General Contractor License in China

By Consulting Specifying Engineer Staff March 10, 2006

CH2M HILL announced in February that it has been issued a general contractor’s license by the Shanghai Ministry of Construction in China. This enables CH2M HILL to provide consulting, engineering, project management, construction management and fully integrated engineering, procurement and construction services. The license also positions the firm for future general building and public works facilities in China.

“This will position CH2M HILL to serve its many multi-national clients’ expansion plans in the industrial marketplace to fulfill Chinese demand,” said David Rosamond, vice president. These include consumer products, automotive, food and beverages, manufacturing, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, electronics, communications, energy and other specific Chinese market needs.

In late 2002, the Chinese government issued two new decrees to be effective in 2004. By qualifying for these licenses, non-Chinese-based firms can legally perform work in China. Due to its unique position in securing this license in China, CH2M HILL has recently won major projects in automotive, metals, chemicals and heavy industrial equipment manufacturing.
