Carrier and the Indianapolis Colts donate AC, generator system to New Orleans Fire Dept.

Carrier Corp, Farmington, Conn, a business unit of United Technologies Corp., teamed with defending Super Bowl Champions the Indianapolis Colts to donate a commercial air conditioner and automatic standby power generator to the New Orleans Fire Dept. The donation was made at the National Football League’s season-opening game between the New Orleans Saints and the Colts at the RCA Dome in Indanapolis on Sept. 6.
The New Orleans Fire Dept., which lost 22 of its 33 fire houses in Hurricane Katrina two years ago, received an Aquasnap Air-Cooled Chiller and Commercial Series Standby Generator. To date, seven of the fire houses have been rebuilt. These systems will allow New Orleans firefighters to move back into their district firehouse. Earlier this year, the temporary housing trailer that served as a makeshift base of district operations was destroyed by a tornado.

“The citizens of New Orleans are still suffering and their plight is in all of our hearts and minds. The Colts and Carrier partnering together to send much-needed equipment to the fire department is a small gesture that we hope makes a difference,” said Tom Zupancic, senior vice president, Indianapolis Colts Sales and Marketing.
