  • The Thermostat Recycling Corp. recently announced it has recovered close to 88,000 thermostats containing more than 819 lbs. of mercury in 2005—up 10% and 12% respectively from the devices collected in 2004.

  • Engineers searching for government project opportunities can now take advantage of an enhanced version of the U.S. government’s official web portal—FirstGov.gov—which was launched late last month. The site’s search improvements include a preview function and more sophisticated algorithms.

  • Product testing and certification organization FM Approvals has just released its comprehensive 2006 Approval Guide on CD-ROM, which provides detailed information on the application and use of more than 45,000 fire protection products, building materials, electrical equipment and services.

  • The Milwaukee School of Engineering is preparing a new B.S. in engineering degree for working adults who seek to improve their knowledge and professional credentials with an engineering degree. It will be a part-time, evening program.
