  • The Sustainable Buildings Industry Council (SBIC), Washington, D.C., has issued a call for entries for its 2004 Awards. Winners in three categories—institutional, residential and government—will be honored on Oct. 13 for contributions to sustainable design. For information, go to www.SBICouncil.org .

  • Affiliated Engineers has received a U.S. Green Building Council LEED version 2.0 certification for its headquarters in Madison, Wis. Winner of a 2003 CSE ARC Award, it is one of three office buildings in the state to attain this status and the first in the city of Madison.

  • Emerging photovoltaic markets will be the topic of a study funded by the Electrical Contracting Foundation, Bethesda, Md. The research project will estimate the size of the PV market, recommend strategies for electrical contractors to enter this business and define best practices for installing PV systems.

  • Carrier is being well-represented at the XXVIII Olympiad in Athens. Carrier Greece has supplied a total of 635 chillers. In addition, more than 3,600 fan coil units, 22 package units, 1,150 split systems and 47 ducted units are equipping projects integral to the Games.
