More than half of the U.S. science and engineering workforce will retire in the next 20 years, according to a study conducted by the staff of Senator Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.) Additionally, only 500 undergraduate degrees and 20 Ph.D.s in power engineering are currently awarded each year.
