Australia sponsors green air conditioner
Solar-power cooling unit said to be 12 times more efficient than traditional systems.
Australian HVAC company Air Change is creating a green air conditioning system that will be up to 12 times more power efficient than a traditional system, according to Manufacturers’ Monthly .
Financed under Australia’s Climate Ready program , the air conditioning unit, called the Green Machine, will use solar technologies to reduce power consumption. This will eliminate the need for refrigeration compressors, and the fan drive will be the unit’s only external energy requirement.
The Climate Ready program provides government matching grants to develop innovative solutions to climate change. Air Change is receiving $458,370 from the program to finance the Green Machine, according to Australia’s minister for innovation, industry, science, and research, Sen. Kim Carr.
