ASIS Publishes Threat Advisory Guideline

By Consulting Specifying Engineer Staff December 30, 2004

Security organization ASIS International, Alexandria, Va., has published the final version of its Threat Advisory System Response Guideline . The guideline is designed to help organizations prepare plans, procedures and response strategies as a result of changes in the threat advisory levels set by the U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security, and is geared toward developing a comprehensive system for protecting the national infrastructure controlled by the private sector-approximately 85% of the total.

The guideline’s matrix is divided into four major sections: green/blue, yellow, orange and red. It is further broken down into three subcategories: emergency response/business continuity, personnel protection and physical protection. The worksheet format will help determine which steps apply to specific security environments and will also help amend the steps based on additional response concerns.

ASIS members can obtain up to five free printed copies of the guideline. The non-member fee is $10. Send an email to asis@asisonline.org to order copies, or click here for a free PDF version.
