The Air Movement and Control Association Intl. (AMCA), Arlington Heights, Ill., announced in July that it has expanded an ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation scope to include acoustic tests on fans, louvers, and reference sound sources.

The scope expansion also includes air and sound testing of residential fan units to HVI Publications 915
and 916. The accreditation was granted to AMCA’s laboratory after a rigorous evaluation process by the
American Assn. for Laboratory Accreditation.

This third-party accreditation will allow the AMCA laboratory to perform the following tests on fans,
air handling units, acoustic louvers and reference sound sources under the A2LA accredited scope:

Comparison Method
The AMCA laboratory’s fulfillment of the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025:2005 means the laboratory meets
both the technical competence requirements and management system requirements that are necessary for it
to consistently deliver technically valid test results and calibrations. The management system
requirements in ISO/IEC 17025 (Section 4) are written in language relevant to laboratory operations and
meet the principles of ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management Systems – Requirements and are aligned with its
pertinent requirements.
