Alloy water heaters
PVI Industries' water heaters are manufactured from AquaPLEX, which allows water to be stored at greater than 200 F continuously without effect.
PVI Industries’ water heaters and storage tanks are manufactured from AquaPLEX, an engineered duplex alloy with 21% chromium content. AquaPLEX combines the grain structures of both 300 and 400 series stainless steels, offering the benefits of both and exceeding the corrosion resistance of either material alone. Tanks made from AquaPLEX require no lining or anode rods of any type. Water can be stored at greater than 200 F continuously without effect. After the tank is fabricated and welding is completed, the AquaPLEX material is completely immersed in a pickling and passivation bath. This process imparts a passive chromium layer on the tank surface that is highly resistant to general aqueous corrosion. Additionally, the product is resistant to chloride stress corrosion cracking. AquaPLEX is approved by the ASME code for water heater fabrication, making it a nonproprietary tank material. Water heaters and storage tanks are available with capacities of up to 900 gallons with gas, oil, electric, steam, or boiler water as the energy source.
