In an attempt to better regulate indoor-air quality, a number of addenda are being proposed to the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers’ (ASHRAE) Standard 62-1999, Ventilation for Acceptable Indoor Air Quality .
The following proposed addendum, available for public review at: www.ashrae.org/STANDARDS/pubrevdft.htm until January 30, 2001, include:

Minimum separation distances between outdoor-air intakes such as exhaust vents and loading docks.

Required outdoor-air-quality assessment and particle filtration when outdoor particle concentration is high.

Air-cleaning requirements for ozone.
One of the standard’s addenda changes published in 1999—the elimination of the phrase “a moderate amount of smoking”—was recently approved by the American National Standards Institute.
