Orchard is a partner at The Mitchell Partnership Inc. and has more than 13 years of experience designing mechanical systems for large high- and low-rise offices, institutional and commercial facilities, data centers, athletic venues and retail developments. He offers innovative and practical solutions to design challenges, including the original development of central heat pump chillers, hot and cold thermal storage, compartmentalized variable air volume air conditioning systems and office underfloor air distribution. He is a leader in developing the company’s building information modeling standards. Orchard has a strong technical background and is dedicated to his team and his clients. He developed the firm’s recruitment and mentorship program. His career progression has been evident as he was promoted from staff engineer to associate in 2008, associate partner in 2011 and partner in 2013 at 33 years old. An avid sports enthusiast, he used his passion for sports to give back to the community by volunteering on various sports teams. He was a volunteer coach for the Toronto City Rugby Club and the Leaside Girls Hockey, York Mills Hockey and Leaside Baseball teams. Orchard enjoys spending time with his family and you will often find him at the arena or baseball field coaching his children. He organized a team to participate in the Ride for Heart each year, raising thousands of dollars for the Heart & Stroke Foundation. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife, son and daughter. He volunteers as a coach for his children’s sports, including hockey and baseball. Orchard keeps active and enjoys outdoor activities such as skiing and biking. He and his family spend time at their farm and are often working on building a project together.
