By Jack Smith and Amara Rozgus May 16, 2019

Gepner, the operations director for the commissioning team at ESD, joined the firm in 2009, bringing design engineering, consulting engineering and commissioning expertise to the company. He started as a junior staff level electrical engineer and was promoted four times in less than seven years to the position he holds today. When he joined the company, he was the first electrical engineer in the commissioning group. Since then, he managed the commissioning scope for a data center development project that was selected to participate in the beta certification project for U.S. Green Building Council LEED v4 to help validate and improve the implementation and testing resources of the revised LEED certification process. The data center was the first LEED v4 and the first LEED v4 Gold certified building and data center in the world. Gepner serves on the board of his synagogue and he is involved in various fundraising committees for nonprofit organizations that are connected to the things that his family and children are involved in. Gepner has played team sports his whole life and has enjoyed the camaraderie that comes with it, whether it be hockey, soccer or volleyball. He also played club rugby in college and his team went on a tour to New Zealand. He loves traveling with his family and he has always had a passion for woodworking.
