2018 40 Under 40: Megan Tosh, PE, LEED AP BD+C, ASHRAE BEMP; 33
Product Manager, Integrated Environmental Solutions (IES), Portland, Ore.
BS and MS mechanical engineering, University of Central Florida, Orlando
Tosh joined IES in Portland, Ore., in August 2013 as a software support engineer after spending 7 years as a sales engineer at the Stan Weaver Co. in Orlando, Fla. In 2017, she achieved the role of product manager and is now responsible for tracking changes in relevant codes, standards, and addenda to help shape the development of the firm’s HVAC modeling software. She ensures that user and industry needs are prioritized and makes informed decisions through the capture of user feedback and by proactively pursuing relevant information from publications, technical presentations, and knowledgeable individuals or firms. Her commitment to the future development of the industry is demonstrated through her willingness to pass her knowledge onto the next generation of engineering professionals. Outside of her work with IES, Tosh is an adjunct instructor at the University of Portland, teaching a course titled Energy Efficiency in Buildings. The course, aimed at senior-level undergraduates and graduate students pursuing ABET-accredited degrees in mechanical engineering, focuses on the analysis and design necessary to plan and specify equipment for heating, refrigeration, and air conditioning systems. In her spare time, she enjoys keeping fit and active, with her most notable pastime being her passion for swimming. Tosh loves to travel, and this is helped by the fact that one of her younger sisters now lives in Paris, providing a perfect excuse for frequent trips abroad. She also has a keen interest in gardening and enjoys spending sunny days in her garden tending to her plants and vegetables.
