William Martin, PE, PEng, SE, GC, CWI; 32
President, Tower Engineering Professionals & TEP Design/Build, Raleigh, N.C.
BS and MS Civil Engineering, North Carolina State University, Raleigh
Martin started with TEP in 2004 as an intern while pursuing his undergraduate degree in civil engineering. Upon obtaining his bachelor’s degree in 2007, he continued his education and obtained his master’s degree while working full time. Since starting full‐time at the company, he has rapidly moved through the ranks: project engineer, project manager, division manager, etc. before becoming a vice president in 2012, chief operating officer in 2014, and eventually president in 2015. In his current role, Martin oversees the strategic and operational goals of the business. He is a hands‐on engineer who works closely with each department to provide technical guidance and integrate turnkey solutions. As president, he has encouraged the company’s involvement with team-building events that benefit the local community. The company hosts semi‐annual blood drives through the American Red Cross, with proceeds and donations going to Raleigh Patriots and other local charities. The company also sponsors an annual golf tournament and cookout with employee and customer involvement, and last year the proceeds went to ALS Association in support of a TEP employee who was recently diagnosed with the disease. The company also has participated in Habitat for Humanity to help build housing for local families in need. Martin loves his 100 Series Land Cruiser and his classic ‘65 Ford Mustang. He has been working on getting his Land Cruiser ready for off-road adventures since February of 2016, and it’s almost complete. He also has been working on restoring his Mustang and updating it with more modern safety features. His goal is to have his Mustang completed by the end of 2017. He also enjoys learning to play golf and having tea parties with his 22-month-old daughter.
