Anabathula is associate director of power and light within University of Virginia’s facilities management organization, a position he has held since October 2013. He has more than 13 years of professional electrical engineering design, safety, power distribution, lighting, and code-compliance experience in the higher education and health care environments. He also managed and executed one of the first large solar roofs on campus in partnership with Dominion Virginia Power, which made front-page news in central Virginia. Anabathula joined the Office of the University Building Official (OUBO) at the University of Virginia as senior electrical engineer in 2010. In this position, he reviewed plans and specifications and participated in inspections for electrical and fire alarm systems. He also served as an in-house consultant for electrical and fire alarm systems and value-management studies, provided technical advice at an expert level for electrical engineering and fire detection/alarm systems, developed and/or reviewed requests for code or design exceptions, and resolved some of the most complex code problems. He was promoted to associate director in 2013. Prior to joining the University of Virginia, Anabathula worked as staff engineer for the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport for 6 years. There, he provided technical advice at an expert level for electrical engineering and served as liaison for the local utility company and the university medical center with a 450-bed hospital. Anabathula is a member of the Central Virginia Section of IEEE, where he volunteers as secretary. He is an avid mountain bike rider, spending most of his Saturday mornings on the Virginia bike trails. He is part of and volunteers with Charlottesville mountain biking club and helps maintain its bike trails.
