Timothy D. Eickman, PE, LEED AP, 40 Principal, Michaud Cooley Erickson, Minneapolis BS Mechanical Engineering, North Dakota State University
With a career spanning more than 18 years in engineering, Eickman has continued to build on an interesting range of roles and responsibilities within the industry. He spent 9 years as a consulting engineer, with seven of them at Michaud Cooley Erickson as an engineer and project manager. He then transitioned to McGough Construction as the firm’s director of MEP services for 7 years. During that time, he developed the company’s MEP division, advancing its engineering understanding for construction projects. He recently returned to Michaud Cooley Erickson as a principal and a member of its newly formed leadership team. One of his most challenging-and rewarding-projects was the New Guthrie Theater in downtown Minneapolis, which consumed 4 years of Eickman’s career during his first tenure at Michaud Cooley Erickson. The $125 million theater complex, built along the Mississippi River, includes several unique engineering specialties, such as displacement ventilation, in-floor radiant systems, smoke control, and central plant optimization. After completion, the theater project was entered in the Minnesota Society of Professional Engineers prestigious Seven Wonders of Engineering competition. The project was awarded the coveted Project of the Year, and Eickman also received a commendation for his engineering role in the project. Eickman has a second career as a volunteer on-call firefighter for his local community. He also volunteers his time as a mentor for a Minneapolis high school engineering program in which he shares his professional engineering experience with students. It allows him to give back to the field that has provided him with so many fulfilling opportunities.
