Michael Pollock, MEng, LEED AP, LCC, 32 Project Leader, Special Projects, Integrated Environmental Solutions Ltd, Glasgow, Scotland MEng Building Design Engineering, University of Strathclyde

Pollock joined Integrated Environmental Solutions (IES) in 2006. He is a key member of the firm’s consulting team and has worked on many complex building simulation projects including the Royal London Hospital and the SSE Hydro Arena. He specializes in HVAC, thermal analysis, and Part L: Conservation of Fuel and Power. Pollock was promoted to project leader of special projects in 2010. He has spent time on temporary assignment at IES offices in the U.S. where he increased his knowledge of the U.S. building services industry while working on ASHRAE 90.1 and LEED projects. Pollock has an aptitude for sustainable design and is considered an invaluable member of his team. He manages a team of three engineers who are primarily based in India. Pollock uses his time wisely to ensure no time difference or geographical distances hinder their productivity. One of his notable projects was the Royal London Hospital. The project was incredibly large and complex-the model comprised more than 8,000 thermal zones. He coordinated the construction and setup of the model. The primary goal of the study was to help the client demonstrate that the design complies with the regional building requirements. He also regularly mentors and provides training for clients to develop and enhance their skills in building simulation and sustainable design. Pollock also loves photography and can usually be found with his camera at family events, outings, and on holidays.
