Jared A. Higgins, PE, CEM, CPMP, GGP, 32 Corporate Associate, Mechanical Engineering and Energy Services Discipline Leader, Parkhill, Smith, & Cooper Inc., Lubbock, Texas BS Mechanical Engineering, Texas Tech University

Higgins began working for Parkhill, Smith, & Cooper Inc. (PSC) in 2003 while completing his mechanical engineering degree at Texas Tech University. After graduating in 2004, he joined the company full-time in the MEP department. In 2011, he become PSC’s first certified energy manager. Then in 2012, he became the company’s first certified commissioning professional. In 2006, Higgins became involved with the first USGBC LEED project for the West Texas region. He found that he enjoyed green building design, and through research, hard work, and determination, became an expert on high-efficiency mechanical systems design, energy modeling, and low-energy high-performance building design. Since this first project, Higgins has been involved in every LEED project designed by PSC. Recognizing a potential market sector, Higgins created the energy services team within PSC in 2011 to provide services that he has excelled at and perfected. The team’s primary services include energy modeling, benchmarking, grant writing, solar hot water design, grey water reclamation, and building systems commissioning. In 2013, Higgins was promoted to take the leadership of all mechanical engineering within PSC, covering all projects of a seven-office firm. Later that year, he was named as a corporate associate for the company. His community outreach includes cleaning and rebuilding Legacy Play Village, a local community-supported playground that he helped construct when he was at Texas Tech University. Outside of work, Higgins enjoys kayaking and reading. He tries to read at least one book a week-more, if possible.
