Rubottom leads Beaudin Ganze Consulting Engineers’ (BGCE) technology systems services, encompassing audiovisual, voice/data/information transport, electronic safety and security, wireless communications, lighting control, automation, and integration systems. His more than 10 years of experience in building systems engineering includes mechanical, electrical, and technology system design projects for education, civic, government, and hospitality sectors. Being able to see the big picture is one of Rubottom’s strengths. In his first year at the company, he identified areas where BGCE could improve. So, in his spare time, he spent countless hours researching, developing, and implementing the Technology Services Group, a comprehensive service offering that he currently leads. This innovative practice expanded BGCE’s electrical engineering capabilities to include customized, fully integrated technology systems, including telecommunications, audiovisual, controls, and security systems. He also heads the firm’s hospitality unit and was recently promoted to the head of BGCE’s Fort Collins, Colo., office. BGCE does not have a formal mentoring program. So, Rubottom is currently developing one. He is taking an active role in the career development of the numerous staff members he has brought into the firm. Eric also currently serves as a shareholder and sits on the board of directors for BGCE. In addition, he has been tutoring high school students in math and physics (including AP) since he graduated from Kansas State University. He has also taken an active role working with the Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Forest Service to initiate the development and maintenance of multiuse recreational trails around Eagle, Colo. In his spare time, he trains for mountain bike competitions. Rubottom is a USAC Category 1 cross-country racer and competes twice a month during the summer, in addition to playing golf and enjoying time with friends.
