In addition to being a project manager at Finnegan Erickson Associates Consulting Engineers (FEA), Luong is also director of lighting design, adding another service offering for the firm. His ability to offer architectural lighting design and electrical engineering design is invaluable to FEA. He is an excellent motivator who inspires his team to put forth its best effort, and takes the time to help each individual within the team grow. He turned his interest in architectural lighting design into marketable skills. He has been a member of Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) since 2005. While active at the local and national levels, Luong also is an advisory member of IES’s Hospitality Committee and committee chair for the local section. He is currently assisting the national committee in revising DG-25: Design Guideline for Hotel Lighting. Luong is actively involved in the Organization of Chinese Americans (OCA), a national membership-driven organization dedicated to advancing the social, political, and economic well-being of Asian-Pacific Americans. OCA strives to foster development, leadership, and engagement through its various programs. He has been in numerous positions with the organization including the president of the local chapter and currently holds a Board at Large position. During his presidency, he grew the membership from 20 to more than 100, which also increases the chapter’s voting power at national board meetings. Luong enjoys discovering new restaurants with family and friends. He grew up in the restaurant industry, which explains his interest in trying various types of food, whether at a hole-in-the-wall venue or a new modern fusion-style restaurant.
