Tyler Fritz is known in the engineering industry as the guy who wears the fun socks. As a leader at ccrd, he wears brightly colored socks to break the ice with industry professionals and clients—a theme that also resonates in his work. Fritz makes a concerted effort to get to know each of his clients personally and relies heavily on in-depth conversations with building owners and clients to better understand their needs, desires, and constraints. He is most proud of projects where he is able to educate clients and users on new, more efficient technologies all while working in a tight collaboration to provide a highly functional building for which everyone is proud to be a part. Fritz also enjoys mentoring other engineers to apply simple engineering principles to provide fresh, new approaches to projects. Having worked for ccrd since 2004, Fritz was recently named the 2013 ccrd “engineer of the year.” Now based in Colorado with his wife and dog, he appreciates that being an engineer allows him to live and visit many different places, make new friends, and create exciting buildings across the country.
