Ken Lindsey, 37
Contract Executive, Southland Industries, Garden Grove, Calif.
Pennsylvania State University, BS Architectural Engineering
As one of the owners of Southland Industries, Ken Lindsey oversees the pre-construction, design, and execution efforts of multiple projects. He has accumulated significant experience with lean integrated project delivery (IPD), and many of his colleagues consider him among the most experienced in the country on this score. Lindsey’s IPD experience includes Walt Disney’s Little Mermaid ride in Anaheim, Calif., and Universal Health Services’ Temecula (Calif.) Valley Hospital. This lean construction experience has pushed Lindsey to broaden his focus toward the development and application of traditional manufacturing processes to construction project delivery efforts. Lindsey has recently assisted in the development and production of various multi-trade construction prototypes for use in highly collaborative project delivery environments. Lindsey has been sharing what he’s learned via multiple speaking engagements. Recently, at the Associated General Contractors of America annual convention in Palm Desert, Calif., he served on a panel that discussed the merits of prefabricated and modular construction in the commercial construction market. He, along with other members of the team, frequently present the results and lessons learned through delivery of the $150 million, 178,000-sq-ft Temecula Valley Hospital. This acute-care hospital facility serves as a “best in class” model for project delivery by integrated form of agreement (IFOA). Outside of work, Lindsey enjoys spending time with his wife, Lori, and two children, Zeke and Hazel.
