ACG 2010 Conference: Making the Business Case for Retro-commissioning

ACG 6th Annual Conference on Total Building Commissioning

Title: Making the Business Case for Retro-commissioning

Presenter: Evan Mills, Ph.D, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory

You know that retrocommissioning can save an owner significant amounts of money in maintenance costs and energy usage, but what happens when they want more data than a rule of thumb?

LBNL maintains the world’s largest database of actual commissioning project costs and energy savings. Evan Mills will discuss the multi-year project that compiled case-study data on costs, energy savings, the patterns of deficiencies and corrective measures, and non-energy benefits – as well as the resulting analyses of cost-effectiveness, savings persistence, and greenhouse-gas abatement.

Dr. Mills, a member of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), holds a PhD in Environmental and Energy Systems Studies and has worked extensively on energy-related projects during his 25 years at LBNL.
