Variable-speed water-source heat pumps by Trane now include Tracer UC400 controls and surpass ASHRAE 90.1 standards. Courtesy: TraneVariable-speed water-source heat pumps from Trane now include horizontal configurations designed for commercial applications. They feature factory-programmed Tracer UC400 controls, which use proprietary algorithms specifically designed to maximize the unique efficiency potential of onboard eFlex compressor and fan technology. Trane eFlex variable-speed compressors and fans respond to changing demands by varying their speeds, optimizing energy consumption while improving reliability, acoustics, and comfort—surpassing ASHRAE 90.1 standards, even at full load. With some configurations reaching an energy efficiency rating (EER) of 40, Trane water-source heat pumps with eFlex technology deliver potential energy savings of up to 60%, when compared to conventional water-source heat pumps. Combined with the integrated controls, eFlex technology enables custom on/off cycling modes and airflow parameters, reduces wear and tear, and increases occupant comfort by providing a more consistent environment.
