In light of Earth Day, April 22, and the LEED for Schools certification program, the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is promoting the benefits of green schools.

Green design, maintenance, and operation practices help K-12 schools save money, reduce illnesses, improve academic performances, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions. Since the launch of the LEED for Schools program, one new LEED for Schools project registers with USGBC everyday, on average.

USGBC spoke with two advocates who are increasing support in their regions: Julia Feder, with the St. Louis chapter, and Marilyn Juban, with the National Capital Region Chapter. Read the interview here .
