Forming a major industry alliance, Simplex, a Westiminster, Mass.-based manufacturer of fire-detection and alarm equipment, and Grinnell Fire Protection, a Houston-based provider of fire-suppression equipment, have combined forces to create SimplexGrinnell, under the umbrella of Tyco Fire and Security Services.

The formation of the new company follows on the heels of the January 5th acquisition of Simplex by Tyco International, the parent company of Tyco Fire and Security Services.

With combined revenues in excess of $1.8 billion, SimplexGrinnell’s product line will now offer: fire-detection and alarm systems; fire-sprinkler systems; fire extinguishers; integrated access control, closed-circuit television and fire systems; health-care communications systems; emergency lighting; sound, intercom and telephone systems; and time- and workforce-management systems.
