Schneider Electric’s Square D 1000 VDC disconnect switch is one of the first enclosed heavy-duty 1000 VDC solar disconnect on the market. The easy-to install switch functions as a local disconnect for a string of Photovoltaic (PV) panels and is designed for an extended life expectancy in harsh environments.

“This Square D solar disconnect switch is another example of how Schneider Electric can provide the electrical balance of system for solar projects,” said Ted Campbell, Renewable Product Leader for Schneider Electric Renewable Energies Business. “We’re proud to be able to offer turnkey solutions as well as innovative products for our customers.”

Suitable for both grounded and ungrounded PV systems, the Square D 1000 VDC disconnect switch offers a preconfigured solar solution and familiar enclosed safety switch design, with no additional components required. The extended life expectancy exceeds IEC 60947-3 mechanical endurance requirements by a factor of 18 and IEC 60947-1 electrical endurance requirements by a factor of 10. The NEMA Type 3 and IP63 enclosure is resistant to windblown dirt and dust and exceeds NEMA type 3R. It operates within a temperature range of -37°C to 50°C, using a white enclosure that can reduce solar gain by up to 35% over standard grey enclosures.

The Square D 1000 VDC disconnect switch is available now through regular Schneider Electric distribution channels.
