SBIC Releases Guide for Sustainable Schools

To aid in the development of high-performance, sustainable school buildings that use 30 to 50 percent less energy than conventional code-compliant facilities, the Washington-D.C. based Sustainable Buildings Industry Council (SBIC) has released a new guide.

To aid in the development of high-performance, sustainable school buildings that use 30 to 50 percent less energy than conventional code-compliant facilities, the Washington-D.C. based Sustainable Buildings Industry Council (SBIC) has released a new guide.

According to High-Performance School Buildings Resource & Strategy Guide , high-performance buildings "provide high levels of acoustic, thermal and visual comfort, large amounts of daylight, superior indoor-air quality and safe and secure environment."

The publication provides information on a number of sustainability topics including energy conservation, high-performance mechanical and lighting systems and efficient plumbing systems.

SBIC is also offering high-performance school workshops based on the guide.
