Restoring the Nation’s Infrastructure

A new publication, entitled Revitalization, is scheduled to debut in Jan. 2006 and will provide “an integrated voice for redevelopment, restoration, reclamation, renewal and revitalization throughout the country,” according to its publisher, Natick, Mass.-based ZweigWhite. “This is an estimated $1 trillion industry.”

The publication is designed to be a comprehensive resource for developers, owners, builders, contractors, planners, designers, landscape architects, environmental professionals, community leaders and government officials. Each issue will cover trends, strategies, finance, planning, management, and case studies of urban, suburban, and rural projects. In addition, it will serve as the official publication of Revitalization Institute (), a non-profit organization based in Alexandria, Va., dedicated to the integrated revitalization of communities and natural resources.

“Everyone is well aware of the tremendous need to rebuild the country's infrastructure--from highways and bridges to stormwater and waste treatment plants to downtown communities,” say ZweigWhite officials. “Among the environmental challenges ahead are the remediation and redevelopment of brownfields, protection of our wetlands, and restoration of our waterways and parks for future generations.”

A "Revitalization Special Report" will be published this coming December, prior to the launch of the publication.
