Power-Gen International 2005 Offers Look at New Innovations

Manufacturers exhibiting at this year’s Power-Gen International tradeshow, which runs from Dec. 6 through 8 at the Sands Expo & Convention Center Las Vegas, are promising a peek at some cutting-edge innovations in power reliability and quality technology.

The editors of Consulting-Specifying Engineer and Pure Power magazines will be there for in-depth coverage of the show. In the meantime, here’s a quick rundown on what some of the manufacturers are promising attendees:

Eaton Corporation, Pittsburgh, Pa., is offering businesses a comprehensive way to manage the continuity, integrity and efficiency of vital electrical systems, improving operations while helping reduce excessive costs due to power loss and power quality. The company has announced its PowerChain Management solutions, a system-wide, life-cycle approach to managing a company’s entire chain of electrical systems to prevent power disturbances.

GE, Plainville, Conn., is introducing its Entellisys low-voltage switchgear, with a simplified system design that enables breakthroughs in safety, reliability and flexibility. There are many new safety options, advanced zone-based protection, mobile metering, and drastically reduced components and wiring for enhanced reliability.

Caterpillar is debuting a new line of diesel generator sets, featuring its ACERT technology, that is says is suitable for both primary and backup power applications. ACERT is described as a technology that is built on a series of complementary engine technologies, including advanced electronics, fuel delivery and air management.

Phoenix Contact will display a host of products. The company recently announced a cooperative agreement with Siemens Automation and Drives Group to expand Siemens range of terminal blocks and overvoltage protection devices.
