A major bill regarding global warming has reached the House of Representatives, receiving major support recently from President Barack Obama and power companies such as Duke Energy , National Grid , and NRG Energy .

The bill, the American Clean Energy and Security (ACES) Act of 2009 , would limit gas emissions that contribute to global warming while creating a plan for polluters to buy and share emissions allowances. If the bill is passed and its projections are correct, the United States will reduce carbon emissions 80% by 2050.

Obama stated in a news conference that the ACES Act would provide incentives to increase the development of clean-energy production and create jobs.

And the energy companies, along with commercial corporations such as Nike, Starbucks, and eBay, co-signed an advertisement that appeared in Washington, D.C., newspapers asking members of the House to vote yes on the bill. There argument is that the legislation will lead to increased investments in cost and energy-saving technologies while at the same time, limiting the out-sourcing of industrial jobs.
