NFPA and ASHRAE to Develop Energy Code

The National Fire Protection Agency and the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) have announced an agreement to collaborate on the development of an energy code, which will include ASHRAE Energy Standards 90.1 and 90.2.

The National Fire Protection Agency and the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) have announced an agreement to collaborate on the development of an energy code, which will include ASHRAE Energy Standards 90.1 and 90.2.

"As a result of this agreement, state and local governments that adopt our codes set will have in place the latest advances in heating, refrigeration, cooling and lighting design, resulting in significant energy savings," said NFPA President George D. Miller.

NFPA's energy code will be part of a comprehensive set of codes, all being developed through an American National Standards Institute accredited process.

Other organizations partnering with NFPA in this overall effort include the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials and the Western Fire Chiefs Association.
