HVAC design and business software uses building square footage, building type and rules of thumb to come up with heating and cooling loads, equipment selections, system options, links to manufacturers websites and budget pricing information. Other modules include functions such as estimating and management of service contracts. For more about software from HVAC Success, click here .

Adaptive-frequency drives control the voltage and speed of a chiller compressor based upon the cooling needs of the building, saving energy when the chiller operates at part-load or in off-design conditions. The patented feed-forward system foresees load changes and quickly adapts to the operating ranges and specific characteristics of the chiller before the leaving temperature of the chiller is affected. Schedule 80 PVC and CPVC piping systems now include molded caps in 10- and 12-in. sizes.n. For more about piping from George Fischer, click here .

Aluminum airfoil blade damper uses patented technology with integral airflow monitoring and control capability. This air-measuring control damper has a rated accuracy of 5% of reading for face velocities of 300-2,000 fpm (1.5-10 m/s) and utilizes a Lon-based programmable controller. The unit helps buildings meet the minimum outdoor air requirements of ASHRAE Standard 62 and California Title 24 by providing accurate monitoring and control of outside air.
