New products for power quality and reliability
SCCR-rated terminal blocks, harmonic-mitigating transformers, data center PDUs, lightning strike counters, Tier 3 gensets.
SCCR-rated terminal fuse blocks offer protection for equipment requiring fast overload protection. The 25-fuse terminal blocks accept 13/32 in. by 1.5 in. Class CC fuses and have a short circuit current rating of 200 kA. They are designed for high-current and high-voltage applications, making them suitable for protecting components such as transformers, motors, and solenoids. Harmonic mitigating transformers eliminate damaging harmonics in industrial, commercial, and educational facilities. Transformers accomplish harmonic mitigation by providing good source impedance and sine wave phase shifting. In addition to eliminating harmonics, the units are said to be compliant with LEED building specifications and to reduce building energy costs. Enclosure power distribution units are said to be ideal for data centers across all power densities providing flexible power distribution for mixed IT environments including blade servers, network, and storage applications. The units also provide advanced metering, monitoring, and management capabilities and complement UPS systems distributing power to up to 45 receptacles per unit. Uninterruptible power supply product line is available in nine new models. The line has been enhanced to include models with additional VA power capacities and expanded features that meet the needs of a broader spectrum of customer applications. Recent changes focus on the 300 VA to 3,000 VA range. For more information about UPS products from Leviton, click here .
Lightning strike counter is designed to monitor occurrences of lightning strikes to structures and outdoor equipment. At any moment, there are almost 2,000 thunderstorms in progress all over the world. About 100 lightning bolts strike the Earth every second, and each instance poses the prospect of damage to sensitive electronic equipment, facilities, and people. The ability to automatically count and record these strikes provides valuable information to enhance lightning protection security and supplements inspection and maintenance procedures. Linking a lightning strike incident to a physical event, such as structural damage, equipment failure, or data loss may substantiate the need for additional earthing/grounding enhancement, transient voltage surge suppression, and lightning protection. For more information about lightning strike counters from Alltech, click here .
Tier 3 generator sets with advanced sound-attenuated enclosure systems are available in two levels of attenuation. The quieter sound-attenuation package features an enhanced exhaust silencer and steel construction with sound-absorbing material. This limits sound levels to 67.5 dBA for the 100-kW generator set package; 68.6 dBA for the 125-kW generator set package; and 69.6 dBA for the 150-kW generator set package (measured at 23 ft. with the generator set operating at full rated load). The weather-protective generator set enclosure package includes an industrial exhaust silencer and 14-gauge steel construction without added sound-absorbing features.
