New Products at the 2006 NFPA World Safety Conference & Expo

The National Fire Protection Assn. is taking its World Safety Conference to Orlando, Fla. this year. From June 4 through 6, attendees will have a chance to check out the products featured here.

IP communicator transmits information generated by a fire-alarm control panel to a central station via the Internet. The unit can utilize any Ethernet network connection such as ADSL, cable modem and T1. Compatible with a majority of the manufacturer’s control panels, the communicator allows for alarm transmissions of less than one second. For more about IPDACT by Fire-Lite, click here .

Linear heat detection can be here .

Domed automatic fire vent is designed with enhanced thermal insulation properties. here .

Wayfinding navigational tool allows firefighters and other emergency responders to use a PC-based touch screen to immediately gather the information needed to accurately pinpoint the source of the fire and the rate at which it is spreading. The graphical workstation can be integrated with fire alarm, card-access and CCTV systems into a single point of control. For more about Onyx First Vision from Notifier, click here .

Fire alarm systems are available in upgraded versions that conform to the new standards mandated by UL, as well as offering enhanced features and here .

Power supplies for fire-protection and security systems are available in two compact models. Functioning as a stand-alone supply or triggered by any 12- or 24-volt fire-alarm control panel, the units deliver either six or eight amps, depending on model, through four class B or two class A output circuits, and can easily be expanded to four class A circuits with the addition of a quick-mounting expansion module. For more about the power supplies from Honeywell Power Products, click here .

Power supply charger for fire and life-safety systems features 8 amps of 24-volt filtered, regulated and supervised power. The unit is designed to handle four class-B or two class-A output circuits with 3-amp rating, offers continuous or temporal coded out and can connect to any 12- or 24-volt panel using NAC inputs, dry contact closures or addressable modules. For more about PS-24-8MC from Cooper Wheelock, click here .

Speakers for fire and life safety systems are designed with appearance and installation ease in mind. All speakers are mount to a standard 4-in. x 4-in. x 2-1/8-in. backbox with color-matching screws. Other features include field-selectable power taps, available in 1/4, 1/2, 1 and 2 watts, and field-selectable voltage, available in 25 or 70.7 VRMS. For more about SP3 speakers from System Sensor, click here .

Emergency evacuation system is said to extend beyond basic fire protection to emergency mass notification and evacuation. With its modular construction, components can be purchased as needed to expand the system over time. A peer-to-peer network operates at 625k Baud, and the system can be arranged as Style 4 or Style 7 using two conductor unshielded wire or fiber cables. The network riser includes paging, firefighter telephones and input/output capabilities. For more about E3 from Gamewell-FCI, click here .
